This is an informational index of electroacoustic compositions for solo flute and similar wind instruments, such as piccolo. It was originally compiled in the spring and early summer of 2002 as an appendix to a doctoral dissertation entitled Electroacoustic Music for the Flute, written by flutist Sarah Louise Bassingthwaighte at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Research was done over several weeks using exhaustive Internet searches, books, and journals. At that time, 542 compositions were identified and entered into a database created by research assistant Spencer Sundell. Sometimes contradictory information about a piece was found. For this and other reasons, there may be errors or omissions in some of the information provided here.

Following completion of her dissertation, Dr. Bassingthwaighte decided this information should be made publicly available on the Web. The original database was modified somewhat to store additional information, and the present site was designed and developed by Mr. Sundell.
